CAFES

LOS ANGELES

Blacktop Coffee - A small but indispensable space in the Arts District by Tyler Wells, featuring Bay Area icons Sightglass Coffee and Heath Ceramics. Grab some pastries or toast and enjoy a hip breakfast on the photogenic tree-shaded patio.

Cognoscenti Coffee - Despite its prominence in the local scene, Cognoscenti has retained the appeal of a hidden gem. The Culver City location currently features excellent beans from Heart, Ritual, and Kuma. Further east, an outpost in Atwater Village operates inside the acclaimed Proof Bakery.

G&B Coffee - A caffeine powerhouse in the heart of Downtown LA from champion baristas Kyle Glanville & Charles Babinski. Pick a spot at the 360˚ bar and soak up the bustling energy of Grand Central Market. Bonus GCM recommendations: the red falafel wrap from Madcapra, and kanom krok from Sticky Rice for dessert.

Go Get Em Tiger - Another Glanville & Babinski project in the heart of Larchmont Village. Check out the "Business & Pleasure" - a three-drink flight of house-made sparkling tea, a shot of espresso, and an iced cappuccino made with their signature almond & macadamia milk.

Verve Coffee - With a flagship store in Downtown LA and new spaces on Melrose Ave and West 3rd St, this Santa Cruz roaster is steadily expanding its retail presence in Los Angeles. The stout-like nitro cold brew on tap is indispensable on a hot day.

AUCKLAND

Ark Coffee - Tucked behind a main street in Takapuna, this quaint family-run Japanese cafe roasts their beans in-house. Enjoy your drink while checking out a selection of local artworks and novel brewing utensils. On the right day, you might even see their Probat roaster in action.

Camper Coffee - A compact caffeine sanctuary in the heart of Newmarket featuring beans from Hamilton's brilliant Rocket Coffee. Order a flat white - you can't go wrong.

Ceremony - The Grafton area might just be home to the most trendy cafe in New Zealand right now. Sip on your pourover in a rustic Wundaire mug, and try one of the boutique sandwiches on their menu.

Eighthirty - Named Auckland's Best Roaster in 2015 by Metro Magazine, Eighthirty operates from several locations across the city including Karangahape Rd (their roasting facility), Ponsonby Central, and High Street.

Fresh Pots - The first Auckland outpost of Wellington's Flight Coffee, right in the middle of Queen Street. Perfect for fueling up in the CBD.

Supreme Seafarers - The sole Coffee Supreme retail space in Auckland since Good One's departure from Ponsonby in July 2015. This bright minimalist lobby on Tyler Street in Britomart presents some of New Zealand's best roasts in conjunction with a curated selection of stylish products.

HAMILTON

Rocket Coffee - A leading New Zealand coffee roaster and a must-visit when in Hamilton. The picturesque cafe next to their Barton Street roastery feels somewhat like a time capsule, in sharp juxtaposition to the contemporary minimalism of their second retail location SL28.
